For bidding is an authentic X. Bazin lidded stoneware shaving cream pot.
Rare.Very cool piece of antique advertising!
The cover may not be original, but marries nicely to the pot.
The printing is very good. The lid shows a motif of an animal exhibit and an enthused crowd.
The pot's base is embossed with purple transfer that reads:
"Seven Highest Premiums Awarded--Also a Prize Medal at the World's Fair London 1851 to X. Bazin Philadelphia"
As pictured, there are a few chips and crazing, otherwise the pot is in great antique condition.
Measures just short of 3" in diameter and 1.5" tall.
Great addition to any collector of Americana!
