his listing is for a vintage (Conn) Pan American baritone horn. The serial number is 235353. This is a 3 valve horn with a front/forward facing bell. It has satin silver plate finish.
This is a former school horn that has been retired by the district that owned it. Like most school horns, this one has taken its share of knocks. It should be presumed to need work, possibly up to and including a full overhaul, to be put in proper playing condition. Please read on for more details regarding its condition. While I strive to be as accurate as possible with my description, please understand that I can't detail every minor imperfection. If I miss something it is not intentional. Please read the description fully, check out the pictures carefully, and if in doubt, ask questions prior to bidding! This instrument is being sold as is.
There are many dents, dings, pings, and nicks throughout. I have tried to show the worst of them in my pictures. It is missing a reinforcement spine. There is also a solder scar where there is a missing piece (the mounting point for a lyre I believe).
    There are many resoldered joints.
There has been significant solder work around the lead pipe and the section of tubing between it and the first valve. This section of tubing is kinked near the valve. None of the tuning slides are stuck. None of the pistons or lower valve caps are stuck. The pistons move freely and rebound quickly. The silver finish is mostly intact with light tarnish. This instrument has a school ID marking hand etched on the bell.
This horn comes in what is likely its original case. The case is in fair condition. The interior isn't too bad, but the exterior is heavily worn, especially around the edges. There are multiple joints that are coming apart. The school ID number is also written on the exterior of the case in white marker.
There is no mouthpiece, and no other accessories included with this horn.
Please feel free to message me with any questions!
    Thanks again for looking!
