Collectible rare Jose Cuervo Family Reserve box, Manuel Velazquez, artist In 1995, Jose Cuervo released the first “Reserva de la Familia”, a hand made tequila to honor the 200th anniversary of the world’s leading tequila. Casa Cuervo selects a different young Mexican artist do develop the original artwork for each issue of Reserva.. This 1996 version, the second in a long series, is a wonderful, rustic, hand made, wooden box.
The artwork on the box, done by Manuel Velazquez, was painted in a mixed technique over raw cotton paper, then printed on serigraphy.
Manuel Velazquez was the artist chosen for the second, 1996 release. He was born in Tuxtla Gutierrez in 1968. At age 12, he became a student of the Plastic Arts School in Chiapas and is currently a teacher at Veracruz University. His work has been exhibited, both individually and grouped, in Mexico as well as the United States and has received numerous awards and recognitions. The box is approx. 11 3/4" long, 4 1/2" high, and 4 3/4" deep. This box has been in storage and is just as purchased. Also comes with the original print out with information on the artist.
